In response to comments about the slowness of our portal: we've created a beta site until our new web server is set up.

The new site uses a different method for obtaining which products your company is subscribed to and is therefore MUCH faster.

FAQs

Q: Does this change the way I log on?
A: No, the logon process may look a little different, but it still uses the same username and password you've been using for weather.earthsat.com.

Q: Can I get a list and samples of all of your Ag/Energy Products?
A: We're still working on setting up samples for each product, but you can get a listing of all our non-custom products.

Q: How many products do you have?
A: We have over 340 Ag products, over 150 Energy Weather Products and provide over 400 custom products to different clients.

Q: What is the future of weather.earthsat.com?
A: We're working on setting up our new web server, which is much more powerful than our current version. At the same time, we're looking into creating a more customizable experience for you and we're looking into features similar to iGoogle. If you have any recommendations, please Contact Us

Q: When do you hope to launch the new web server?
A: We're planning for late April, early May, during the shoulder months for weather.

Q: How much faster are we talking about?
A: Preliminary tests have shown an increase from 2.46 requests per second to 452 requests per second for the weather portal. And 13 requests per second to over 6,400 requests per second for the models page. (That's fast!)

Q: Are my products still protected from other people from viewing them?
A: Yes, they're still within a content management system (CMS) so only clients with proper credentials (those who subscribe) can access them.

Q: We pull down products directly via scripts. Does this effect our scripts?
A: No, don't want you to have to change things. The URLs will still be accessable. weather.earthsat.com isn't changing, just how you access it as an end-user.
